Housekeeping

WestCana prepares service plans that are unique to the requirements of each individual facility. Our staff will ensure that the goals of the facility are met, and have the ability to provide both daily and enhanced cleaning.

Some of the housekeeping services that we provide are:

• Bed cleaning
• Terminal/discharge cleaning
• Furniture moving
• Floor care
• Enhanced cleaning on a rotation set by the facility, typically on an annual or bi-annual basis
• Thorough cleaning of all resident rooms and public areas on a rotating basis
• Daily resident room and public area cleaning, including all washrooms, nursing stations and staff rooms

All WestCana employees are trained in standard infection control procedures, with a focus on reducing the risk of cross-contamination. All managers and staff understand the difference between disinfection and cleaning, and have the training and skills to accomplish both. Our employees take great pride in their work, and understand that their responsibilities go beyond making a facility look clean: they also understand that their efforts are vital in maintaining the health and welfare of the residents, staff and visitors.

Laundry

WestCana staff excel in an area of service that is vital to the success of any facility. All of WestCana’s laundry departments are run according to the strict schedules of the facilities, to ensure that all supplies are available when required, such as bibs, sheets, pillowcases, blankets, towels, facecloths, and personal resident clothing.

All of the staff treat the residents personal laundry with the utmost of respect. It is emphasized to all staff within the laundry department that they check all resident belongings for any personal items that may have been overlooked by others. After the completion of the personal laundry, it is carefully hung or folded and delivered to the resident rooms.

Laundry staff are thoroughly trained on how to preserve the longevity of items, while also making certain that the clothing and supplies are clean and free of staining. Training is also provided to staff to ensure that they have demonstrated a thorough knowledge of cleaning heavily soiled items while following infection control practices.
